I hear "serious" songwriters diss Jimmy but with songs like Come Monday, He Went to Paris and Pirate Looks at 40, I think it is just sour grapes. Of course, there was that song about flip flops and a pop top...
and "why don't we get drunk and . . ." yeah, i grew up on buffet and have great respect for him, not only his songwriting but his biz/career choices. he has an enviable level of both artistic and biz independence.
on one of his live albums, he says something like, "people ask me how i can write such sen-suh-tive songs and then write such trash. i tell them, well, i can be quite sensitive on occasion and other times i can be quite trashy!"
what i'm curious about is whether we all feel we see more than most, or are there people out there who say, no, my view is pretty small.
we can't *all* be above avg, can we?
